3. Grading and Completion Criteria
- 1) Grading
- Areas of assessment consist of four sections, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing, and two rounds of exams (midterm and final) will be taken in one course.
- GPA is determined according to the grade criteria below, based on students’ average points received in final exams.
A(4.0)=90~100, B(3.0)=89~80, C(2.0)=79~70, D(1.0)=69~60. F(0)=60~0
- 2) Passing the Class Level
- Students must have an attendance rate higher than 80% in order to complete the program and advance to the next level.
- Students must achieve an average score of at least 70 in their final exams in order to complete the class and advance to the next level. However, each subject score must be over 50.
- Students may conditionally move on to the next class level after faculty deliberation.
- 3) Failure and Academic Dismissal
- Students will fail if their average score received is less than 70 points.
- Re-enrollment will be not accepted if a student fails three times in a row at the same level.
- If any of a student’s four test areas score less than 50 points despite having attained an average GPA of 70 points or higher, it will result in a fail in the course. However, the student can retake the exam, but this time, they will need to attain more than 80 points in order to take the next class.
- If a student is caught cheating during an exam or found to have cheated after the exam is over, they will fail that area and not be able to take the next class.
- Cheating in more than three exams during the school year can lead to suspension with a warning.
- Committing an act that causes harm to the school’s reputation is subject to suspension.
